God's Story
God knew the end from the beginning.
All of creation was created through Jesus and for Jesus.
It all came into being by the Word and is there to reveal His story.
Day 1 | Chapter One
Darkness or Light
The Father speaks, "Let there be light.", and light shines forth into the darkness. A distinction is made. God calls the light good. Darkness and light are separated. Each is given their own space, their own time on the clock. A choice was given. Freewill is placed in motion. Will you love, trust, and obey me, God asks His children?
And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. Genesis 1:1-5
Day 2 | Chapter Two
Separated From God
We chose darkness. Man loved darkness because His deeds were evil. Just as God separated the waters, forming an expanse in the sky, an expanse also separated us from His presence. And, it wasn't "good." Day 2 is the only day that God doesn't use that word. But, the story doesn’t end here because God had a plan.
And God said, “Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.” Genesis 1:6-8
Day 3 | Chapter Three
A Seed is Sown
God's rescue plan begins. The earth was in a state of hopelessness, separated from God and covered in deep waters. So God gathered the waters together and made dry land appear. Then, he sows a seed - the seed that would produce the family tree of Jesus. He choses Abraham and His lineage begins to grow. He sets this family apart and rescues them from slavery. He teaches them to follow Him. God reveals the law and the need of a Savior - the Word that would become flesh. And through them the entire world would have the opportunity to be grafted in to this Tree of Life. The imperishable seed that would be sown into every willing heart. Jesus!
And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” ... Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, Genesis 1:9-13
Day 4 | Chapter Four
Light of the World
God made the sun, moon, and stars and placed them in the expanse. Likewise, at the center point of His story, God would enter the expanse that once separated us from His presence. The Creator stepped into His own story. Jesus humbled Himself and became a man. He lived a perfect life and gave His life on the cross, taking our sins with Him to the cross and paying the price for us. Why? Because of His infinite love for us. When we make Him our Lord and Savior He shines His light into our broken lives and teaches us how to love others. His light is reflected from us into this dark world. And at the end of time, when Jesus returns and sets things right, those who know him will shine like the brightness of the stars in his kingdom, forever.
And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night...and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.” Genesis 1:14-19
Day 5 | Chapter Five
Fishing & Holy Spirit
God made the fish that swim in the darkness of the sea and the birds that fly freely in the expanse - with the Light of the World. After the resurrection Jesus returned to His Father, but with a mission for His disciples to fulfill before His return. Be fishers of men. Rescue people out of darkness by attracting them to the light - His love - and their need for a Savior for the forgiveness of their sins. God will then send them a Helper. The Holy Spirit will descend on them as a dove and they too will fly freely in the expanse with His marvelous light.
And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.” Genesis 1:20-23
Day 6 | Chapter Six
Lion of Judah
On earth, Jesus was scorned and despised like a worm and sacrificed as a lamb for our sin. And when we give our lives to our Shepherd, we become the sheep of His pasture. But, in the end He promises to return and set things right. And this time as the Lion of Judah. He will separate the sheep from the goats and battle against the beasts of this fallen world. There will be a new heaven and a new earth and those who call Him Lord will be transformed with new glorified bodies and sin will be no more.
And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals ... Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness..." Genesis 1:24-31
Day 7 | Chapter Seven
Endless Love
Yes, our God knew the end from the beginning. He had a plan. A story. And Jesus is the heart of it all. He is the Sabbath Day. He is the Lamb and the Shepherd. The Cornerstone and the Carpenter. The Seed, the Vine, and the Gardener. The Light of the world. The Bread of life. And the Door for His sheep. He IS the Word that was spoken at creation that illustrates His story.
Do you acknowledge Jesus as your Creator? Have you made Him Lord of your life? If so, you are already able to rest in Him and know His love. Eternity is already here. In time, He will wipe away every tear from your eyes and the suffering of this dark place will soon be replaced with the glory of His fullness. His light will shine brighter than the sun for ever and ever.
Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array ... God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. Genesis 2:1-3
